Michelle Obama expressed her delight that her daughters have grown up and are now bringing their equally grown-up boyfriends home. She was reminded of how Sasha and Malia, now 20 and 23, had first visited the Ellen DeGeneres Show as little girls who wanted to see the Jonas Brothers when she appeared on the show.

During the conversation, Ellen DeGeneres recalled Michelle Obama bringing the Jonas Brothers to the show long before President Barack Obama was elected. Michelle described how drastically things have changed. “Now they’re bringing back mature guys.” They used to be just a pop band, but now they have relationships, real lives, etc. They’ve grown up right in front of our eyes and are doing well,” she explained.

Apart from the fact that both girls have boyfriends, Michelle mentioned how pleasant it was to spend more time with Malia and Sasha at home during the COVID-19 pandemic. She remarked that while she “love[s] them at every age,” it’s good to spend time with them now that they’re older. “Having them for that short time was an additional great joy.” It’s a great joy to hang out with them as adults!” she exclaimed. “They’re really incredible young ladies.

During the interview, Michelle stated that Sasha is doing well in college. While her younger sister is still in school, Malia was recently discovered working on a new TV project with rapper and Atlanta creator Donald Glover. In a March interview with Vanity Fair, the “This Is America” rapper said, “She’s incredibly focused and working really hard.She has a fantastic writing style.” Michelle also discussed her friendship with former President Barack Obama during the Ellen interview. Similarly, a celebrity child, Corde Broadus, is currently dating Soraya Love.

In October 2021, the pair celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary. When Barack and Michelle celebrated their special day, they both sent each other romantic anniversary messages. “I’ve loved watching the world get to know you not just as a South Side daughter but as a mother, lawyer, executive, author, First Lady, and my best friend over the past 29 years.” Barrack added, “I can’t picture life without you” in his caption.
