On April 20th, 1972, Stephen Marley was born. Wilmington, Delaware, was his birthplace. However, he was raised in Kingston, Jamaica. He was the second son of Bob Marley, the famed reggae performer. Rita Marley was his mother’s name. Marley started singing when he was seven years old.

His elder siblings were also a musician like their father. He joined his older siblings’ family band. Ziggy and Cedella had collaborated with Stephen to form the Melody Makers, a band. Their father, Bob, wrote the Melody Makers’ debut song, which they recorded.
