Matilda Ledger’s Wiki/Bio
On October 28, 2005, Matilda Rose Ledger was born in New York City to actors Michelle Williams and the late Heath Ledger. She was born three months before the film ‘Brokeback Mountain,’ on the set of which her parents fell in love.
Some sources claim that Ledger’s parents allegedly met for the first time on ‘Ned Kelly‘ set in 2003. She is Kim Ledger and Sally Bell’s granddaughter. Kate Ledger is her aunt’s name.
On January 22, 2008, her father died from an overdose of pharmaceutical medicines he was taking for various ailments. Matilda’s name translates as “(The) Militant Rose.” Her godparents are Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle and Heath’s costar in ‘Brokeback Mountain,’ and Busy Philipps, whom Michelle met on ‘Dawson’s Creek’ in 2001.
Matilda Ledger’s Father’s Lullaby
In addition to being an exceptional actor, Matilda Ledger’s father was also interested in photography, chess, and music. Thus, he created the record company Masses Music with American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ben Harper. One month before her birth, her dad sent a grand piano to his old friend and partner Ben as a gift and asked him to compose a lullaby that he would sing to her once she was born.
The song track ‘Happy Ever After In Your Eyes,’ written from the perspective of an adoring father, brilliantly expresses his sentiments toward his young daughter. Ben shared the information in the 2017 documentary ‘I Am Heath Ledger.’ According to reports, she will be allowed to view the documentary after her mother, Michelle Williams, approves of executive producer Matt Amato‘s work. According to Matt, Matilda, who was 11 years old, had become quite curious about her late father.
Matilda Ledger – After Her Father Passed Away
Matilda Ledger grew up under the watchful glare of the paparazzi as a celebrity child. Her father’s tragic death when she was only two years old did not help her mother keep her away from the media. Because of the issue surrounding her dad’s will, Matilda has particularly dragged into all of the hypotheses and conspiracy theories surrounding his death. However, shortly after Heath’s death, her mom requested that the media allow them to grieve discreetly, and she worked hard to keep her out of the spotlight.
Interestingly, Ledger had made regular appearances on the pages of newspapers in recent years due to her resemblance to her late father. In reality, Michelle had stated in her statement following Heath’s death that she was the spitting image of her father. In the documentary about his life, Heath’s sister Kate said that everything she does reminds her of Heath. Ten years after her father’s death, the media continues to rave about how much the 16-year-old resembles Heath.
Matilda Ledger’s Controversies
Matilda Ledger became the subject of a dispute at the age of two years, shortly after her father passed away, Heath Ledger, in 2008, involving her dead father’s will, which was made in 2003 and did not include her or her mother, Michelle Williams, whom Ledger began seeing in 2004.
Heath’s father, Kim Ledger, told the media shortly after his demise, following press reports about his will and his daughter’s access to his financial legacy, that his granddaughter’s financial well-being was an “absolute priority,” adding that her mother, Michelle, had been “an integral part of our family.” He also pledged to look after them because it is what his late son would have wanted. Kim then revealed that Heath’s multi-million dollar estate had been given to Matilda by the family.
