Royal Family Wishes Lilibet, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s daughter on her 1st Birthday!
On Saturday, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s kid celebrated her first birthday in her father’s homeland. Several members of her royal family flocked to social media to wish the baby a happy birthday. “Have a wonderful first birthday, Lilibet!” Queen Elizabeth, Lili’s great-grandmother, posted on her official social media account.
“Wishing a very happy birthday to Lilibet, who turns one today!” Kate Middleton and Prince William both tweeted. “Wishing Lilibet a very happy first birthday today!” tweeted Lilibet’s grandfather Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall. Since Tuesday, the 37-year-old former military pilot and the 40-year-old “Suits” alum have been in England to help celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.
The visit was the toddler’s first encounter with the king, who is 96, since her birth in July 2021. Since early 2020, when Harry and Markle stepped down from their roles as senior royal family members, they have lived in California. They announced their departure in February 2021. In April 2021, the duke returned to England for his grandpa Prince Philip‘s burial, but he left his wife, daughter, and their 3-year-old son, Archie, at home.
In July 2021, Harry flew alone to Kensington Palace to assist estranged brother Prince William in unveiling a statue of their late mom, Princess Diana. When the designer of the Invictus Games returned to the UK for the third time in April for the annual multi-sport tournament, Markle accompanied him. Before traveling to the Netherlands, the pair stopped by Windsor Castle to see the Queen and Harry’s father, Prince Charles.
During the Jubilee celebrations, Harry and Markle have taken a back seat on their first journey abroad as a family of four. On Thursday, the couple and their children did not join the Queen, Charles, 73, William, 39, and other royal family members on the Buckingham Palace balcony. “This year’s traditional Trooping the Colour balcony appearance… shall be confined to Her Majesty and those members of the royal family who are currently conducting formal public engagements on behalf of the Queen,” a palace statement said ahead of the ceremony.
Lilibet is named after her great-grandmother, who is enjoying her 70th year of service. (The family nickname for the matriarch is Lilibet.) Prince Harry and Meghan Markle joined the Queen at St Paul’s Thanksgiving service.
While raising their daughter in their Montecito, Calif., home, the couple has kept her privacy. In fact, Harry and Markle waited six months to show Lilibet on their Christmas card for the first time. In the caption of the December 2021 family portrait, the couple wrote gently that the toddler had made them a complete “family.“
