During his highly-anticipated farewell appearance on Saturday Night Live, Pete Davidson slammed Will Smith and Tucker Carlson and even addressed competitor Kanye West. After joining the program eight years ago as the show’s youngest cast member in history, Davidson, 28, used the season 47 finale on Saturday to bid fans and critics farewell.

The departures of Davidson, Aidy Bryant, Kate McKinnon, and Kyle Mooney mark one of the most significant cast changes in years on a show that has been unusually consistent in recent seasons. Davidson appeared in a desk piece on Weekend Update for his send-off with Colin Jost and Michael Che, as he frequently does.

Hello Colin and Che, and millions of people waiting to see if I bring up Kanye,’ Davidson added, alluding to girlfriend Kim Kardashian‘s ex-husband, with whom Davidson has been entangled in a public spat. He thanked everyone who worked on the program and talked about how far he’d gone since joining.
I was only a skinny kid back then, and no one knew what ethnicity I was.’ Davidson remarked, “Now everyone knows I’m white since I’m tremendously successful despite never showing up for work.”

The comedian also brought up the uproar he sparked when he insulted Congressman Dan Crenshaw’s eyepatch, noting that Fox News had now done the same after ‘calling me a monster for saying it.
Eyepatch McCain,” Tucker Carlson dubbed him. That’s an insult from two veterans!’ He then compared what he said about Crenshaw to Chris Rock criticizing Jada Pinkett-Smith before being hit by his husband Will at the Oscars.

‘I was just making a joke about someone’s appearance without realizing the narrative behind it was a serious subject,‘ he remarked, referring to an SNL alumni tradition. Lorne Michaels, the creator of Saturday Night Live, gave Davidson guidance when he announced his engagement to singer Ariana Grande in 2018.

Oh, hold on for dear life!‘ he said. That’s exactly what he said!’ He ended by thanking everyone for participating in the program once more. ‘I appreciate SNL always having my back and enabling me to work on myself and evolve, and thank you to Lorne for never giving up on me or criticizing me, even when everyone else did, and believing in me and providing me with a home and experiences that will last a lifetime.’

Kate McKinnon arrived during the season finale’s opening segment to say her goodbyes. McKinnon brought back Miss Rafferty‘s recurring character in the show’s cold start, who was supposed to be leaving alongside other veteran cast members Aidy Bryant, Davidson, and Kyle Mooney. When Ryan Gosling, Eva Mendesboyfriend, hosted SNL in 2015, a variation of this skit aired. It quickly became a fan favourite due to McKinnon’s ability to break and laugh at other cast members’ live on camera.
