According to her office, Sayaka Kanda, a Japanese actress and singer, died Sunday after presumably falling from her room at a hotel in Sapporo. Kanda, 35, was discovered dead at 1 p.m.

Saturday in an outdoor space on the 14th level of the 22-story hotel where she was staying. She was pronounced dead at the hospital. Hokkaido Prefectural Police are investigating the event as a potential suicide, but no foul play has been ruled out.

Kanda, the daughter of actor Masaki Kanda and singer Seiko Matsuda, debuted in the entertainment industry in 2001. She was most known for her role as Anna in the Japanese dub of the Disney animated film “Frozen.” Kanda married in 2017, but the couple split two years later.

Kanda was supposed to play the lead in the musical “My Fair Lady” in Sapporo on Saturday, but she did not arrive in time for a daytime performance, according to Toho Co., which produces the musical. According to the firm, she took part in a rehearsal on Friday.
