And, even though they keep postponing their official wedding date, the couple is still moving forward as a couple. Learn more about Catherine Piaz and Austin McBroom’s relationship in the following parts.
How did Catherine Piaz and Austin McBroom Meet?
In an interview with Power 106 Los Angeles, Austin McBroom revealed that he knew Catherine Piaz was exceptional from the start. Austin wanted something serious right away, but Catherine needed to warm up to him. On the first date, she didn’t even hug or kiss him! Despite Catherine’s reservations, they continued to see each other.
They had their daughter Elle in 2016, just a few months before launching their YouTube channel, which they named after the first initial of their three names. Over the last few years, the family has documented their daily lives for over 17 million subscribers and counting. Their channel has been so successful that they have signed a contract with Univision to join its Creator Network, as Variety exclusively reported.
Austin McBroom’s Controversy
During the family’s time in the spotlight, Austin McBroom has been involved in a few controversies. In early 2019, Austin posted a Snapchat video of himself purchasing a penis-shaped lollipop for a girl who was thought to be an extended family member. The footage was then re-posted on Twitter, and critics were outraged, claiming he was sexualizing the child.
Going back even further, old now-deleted tweets of Austin resurfaced, showing him making remarks about Asian and Black women, as well as women in general. To defend himself, Austin took to YouTube. He posted a video addressing the controversy with his mother, who claimed that her son couldn’t be taken seriously because he is multi-racial and a “joker.”
Despite the controversies, Catherine supports Austin. Catherine tells her subscribers in a recent video that she and Austin are not breaking up, even though she has been seen without her ring. “People don’t always understand… but he’s my soulmate,” she says in the video. “He’s my other half, the person I’m supposed to spend my life with.”
