Casey Affleck met Arlyn Phoenix‘s daughter Summer Phoenix in the late 1990s, and the two immediately became friends before becoming romantically involved. Casey Affleck and Summer Phoenix were married in 2006 and had two kids, Atticus Affleck and Indiana Affleck, who are the joy of their lives.

In 2015, the couple began discussing their problematic marriage in public, and they divorced the following year. Casey stated that the decision to part ways was amicable and that they remained excellent friends.
