Travis Scott‘s Coachella trip took another unexpected turn on Saturday night when he performed an impromptu set at an after-party. The 30-year-old rapper (born Jacques Berman Webster II) was set to headline the Indio, California festival. Still, he was withdrawn from his headlining slot following the catastrophic Astroworld concert, leaving ten people dead and hundreds more injured.

The singer was also expected to join former headliner Kanye West on stage. However, with West’s departure in early April, it wasn’t expected that Scott would perform at all this weekend until Saturday night. Scott took the stage at Bootsy Bellows’ after-party in La Quinta, California, not far from the Coachella grounds in Indio. He reportedly arrived around 3 a.m., only an hour before the club’s doors closed, and performed five of his songs from the DJ booth (via TMZ). Also, Kanye West hangs out with Drake.

Compared to his usual appearances, the rapper’s performance was described as “extremely stripped down and constrained compared to his usual appearancesd.” Before the party ended, he even performed as a DJ for a short while. Before the festival was canceled due to COVID-19, Scott was one of the original headliners for Coachella in 2020. Before the festival was canceled, he was set to headline alongside Rage Against the Machine and Frank Ocean for the 2020 edition. This year, Kanye West wasn’t allowed to perform at Grammys 2022.

Coachella will return in 2022, as announced in June 2021, despite Scott being withdrawn from the headlining role following the Astroworld tragedies. Kanye West, Harry Styles, and Billie Eilish were named as the headliners in January 2022. Before West’s official withdrawal from Coachella in early April, Eilish made news in February when she abruptly ended her act in Atlanta after observing a fan was having difficulty breathing.

The beautiful lady assisted the fan in obtaining an inhaler and remarked, “I wait for the folks to be OK before I continue,” which Kanye West mistook for a dig at Travis Scott. In an Instagram post later removed, West called out Eilish, confirming that Travis Scott would be on stage with him. “But only if she apologized. ‘And yeah, Trav will be at Coachella with me.’ But now, before I perform, I need Billie to apologize,’ he wrote.

‘Literally never mentioned a thing about Travis,’ Eilish replied on the post. ‘I was merely assisting a fan.’ Regardless, West dropped out of Coachella just weeks before the event, and the Swedish House Mafia stepped in to fill the void. Arcade Fire was added to the program just a day before the festival’s first weekend, despite not being advertised as a headliner. Currently, Travis Scott is dating a model Kylie Jenner.
