Several days after an explosion there on July 29 claimed the lives of at least 50 people, American actor Steven Seagal was seen visiting a prison camp at Olenivka, Ukraine, a Russian-controlled facility that housed hundreds of Ukrainian detainees.
Inside the destroyed prison, Seagal can walk about, settling down on a bench and examining some pieces of shrapnel. Additionally, there is a picture of Seagal interacting with Ukrainian detainees while speaking through metal bars.
Similarly, Seagal loudly supported Russia’s takeover of Crimea in 2016; Russian President Vladimir Putin granted him citizenship in Russia and personally handed him his Russian passport. As a result, in 2017, he was given a five-year ban on visiting Ukraine.

In February, Seagal interviewed Fox News, stating that “most of us have friends and relatives in Russia and Ukraine.” He said, “I see both as one family, and I genuinely feel it is an outside organization spending large quantities of money on propaganda to drive the two countries to be at war with each other.”
