Sarah DiSanto’s Husband and his roommate and wrestling teammate, Jean McGianni Celestin, were accused of raping a female student while a sophomore at Penn State University in 1999. According to the accuser, Parker and Celestin raped her when she was drunk and unconscious, who did not know how many individuals were involved. Authorities recorded a phone call between her and Parker, in which Parker confirmed that he and Celestin were the ones who had raped her.
The female student also claimed that after she filed complaints, the two harassed her and hired a private investigator who revealed her name by showing her image around school, which Parker and Celestin disputed. Along with his friend and wrestling teammate Jean Celestin, Parker was charged with rape shortly after the incident while still a student at Penn State. Celestin was found guilty, while Parker was found not guilty.
Celestin, who has a story credit on The Birth of a Nation, was convicted of sexual assault in 2001 and sentenced to six months to one year in jail, later increasing to two to four years due to state sentencing guidelines. A high court would later reverse his conviction on appeal. Parker’s accuser then filed a complaint against Penn State for failing to protect her from harassment, and the case was resolved for $17,500. The accuser committed suicide in 2012.
Nate was dismissed from the wrestling team at Penn State for a year before being reinstated in 2000 while awaiting trial. Within weeks, he was accused of exposing himself to a female student worker. Penn State dropped the case because the student did not go to the cops. Parker transferred to the University of Oklahoma after the trial, where he was a member of the wrestling team and earned a degree in management science and information systems.
