While working as a technician, Paul Nakad spent his free time producing music and performing in tiny clubs and on community radio, gradually establishing himself as a distinctive Lebanese Australian hip-hop voice.

In 1997, he created his debut album, Sleekism, culminating in his street cred, lyrical use of the phrase, freestyle skill, and fan backing. Nakad’s distinctive sample-laden music was enhanced by DJ Soup‘s groovy, funky, hard-hitting rhythms and production. Miguel D’Souza, presenter of Mothership Connection on 2SER Community Radio, teamed with Sleek on Child of the Cedar and added extra vocals.

Madcap Records republished Sleekism in 2000 with new artwork but no changes to the content. Hard for a Rapper, Nakad’s second album was produced by Def Wish Cast member Sereck and released in 2004. Rumors of a new album arose on his MySpace profile in 2007.

Paul Nakad’s Acting Career

Paul Nakad made his acting debut in Paul Fenech’s short film Basic Equipment in 1998 and Fenech’s feature film Somewhere in the Darkness in 1999. In 2000 and 2001, Nakad and Fenech adapted the Sleek the Elite identity to Fenech’s comedic series Pizza.

Nakad starred in the feature film Fat Pizza in 2003. Nakad quit the Pizza crew after completing the movie adaptation of the series to concentrate on his rap career, releasing Hard for a Rapper in 2004. In Wog Story, Nakad collaborated with comedian and actor Nick Giannopoulos.

Paul Nakad and Anh Do shared a dressing room throughout the show’s run in Melbourne. Do was working on the writing for the film Footy Legends when he came up with Walid’s character, which he wrote just for Nakad.

Nakad hosted a car program called Pop Your Hood (produced by Templar Film & Television); however, the show was never picked up for broadcast. After a long period of obscurity, Nakad reprised his role as Sleek the Elite in the 2014 film Fat Pizza vs. Housos. In 2019, Nakad returned to Sleek The Elite in the new series Fat Pizza: Back in Business.
