On October 28, 2005, Matilda Rose Ledger was born in New York City to actors Michelle Williams and the late Heath Ledger. She was born three months before the film ‘Brokeback Mountain,’ on the set of which her parents fell in love.

Some sources claim that Ledger’s parents allegedly met for the first time on ‘Ned Kelly‘ set in 2003. She is Kim Ledger and Sally Bell’s granddaughter. Kate Ledger is her aunt’s name.

On January 22, 2008, her father died from an overdose of pharmaceutical medicines he was taking for various ailments. Heath’s father, Kim Ledger, told the media shortly after his demise, following press reports about his will and his daughter’s access to his financial legacy, that his granddaughter’s financial well-being was an “absolute priority,” adding that her mother, Michelle, had been “an integral part of our family.” He also pledged to look after them because it is what his late son would have wanted. Kim then revealed that Heath’s multi-million dollar estate had been given to Matilda by the family.
