Duncan received a threatening text message from Fager that says “If you repeat these false accusations without any of your own reporting to back them up you will be responsible for hurting me. Be careful. There are people who lost their jobs trying to harm me and if you pass on these damaging claims without your own reporting to back them up that will become a serious problem.“
Despite receiving a threatening message, Duncan did her job and was appraised by many organizations including National Association for Black Organization, for her bravery and dedication.
Mobilized Me Too Movement
After the incident, it led to the creation of the #reportingMeToo hashtag on Twitter. Many people got the courage to report and fight the sexual harassment they experienced.
Duncan was credited for the portion of a character who helped to mobilize the “me too movement”.
Action Against Jeff Fager
Fager was fired from his profession and company for displaying such behavior. All the women he had harassed felt some kind of justice.
Duncan received support from fellow CBS employees Gayle King, Norah O’Donnell, and John Dickerson after Fager was let go. She received acclaim for taking a position, disclosing, and reading aloud the texts Fager had sent. A short while after, Duncan was named as the featured speaker at one of the Buffalo Association of Black Journalists’ meetings, “Social Media and Reporting on Race.”
Career At CBS
Since 2013, Duncan has worked as a national reporter for CBS This Morning out of New York City. Jericka has reported stories like charges of Billy Cosby, R Kelly, and Harvey Weinstein, a Navy sailor in Chattanooga, the gunshot murders of four marines, D-day, and the 70th anniversary of the Normandy invasion during her time there. She has also covered a number of major national breaking news stories.
As a journalist, Jericka covered the White House in Washington, D.C., in 2018 and was one of the first reporters to chronicle the passing of Roe V. Wade’s most stringent abortion law in Alabama. She was employed by the CBS-owned TV station KYM in Philadelphia before joining the company.
She was also one of the first reporters on the scene of the Buffalo Plane crash, which resulted in the deaths of 50 people. Her station received two national Edward M. Murrow honors for its coverage of Buffalo. In Elmira, New York, she started her career in 2005.
