And recently, Jack has paid tribute to the late American singer and songwriter Loretta Lynn, whom he calls a mother figure. On October 4th, the country singer died while sleeping. An official family statement said she died “at home in her beloved ranch near Hurricane Mills.”

At Sunday night’s memorial for Loretta Lynn at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Jack White gave a heartfelt performance. White joined the cast right before the performance started. The 47-year-old White sang the album’s title track, Van Lynn Rose, which Lynn composed. The Best Country Album Grammy was awarded to the album in 2005. In addition, the song Portland, Oregon, a duet with White, is included.

After thinking about her talent, White said, “she was really a genius and just wonderful at what she did and we were happy to have her and people can take for example the rags to riches side of it and the lovely natural voice part of it.”
