Ade Chike Torbert was born on May 11, 1986. He was born in Jamaica, but when he was four years old, his family immigrated to Brooklyn, New York, the United States, for good. The identity of the Jamaica-born’s parents is not disclosed. However, it has come to light that his father was also a dancer.
The now 35-year-old is the middle child of the family. His older brother is also a dancer. Watching his older brother dance, the actor also began dancing at the age of 6. His mother enrolled him in classes at the Restoration Dance Theatre, where he was introduced to other dance forms like West African, Tap, and Afro-Caribbean Dance.
While there, the East Los High star was a member of the trap troupe ‘The Young Hoofers‘ along with his two brothers and four other young men. Focusing on his passion, he attended the esteemed Fiorello H. LaGuardia High school with a dance major. The now 35-year-old then went on to train at The Alvin Ailey School and then to Boston Conservatory. He also trained at the New World School of the Arts.
