He wanted permission for an event linked to his “God’s Desire” program. Garrido spoke to Lisa Campbell, who noticed something strange about the kids and Garrido’s behavior. This made her suspicious.

Campbell asked Garrido to come back the next day and leave his name for reference. She checked his background and found out he was a registered sex offender on parole for kidnapping and assault.

More inquiries were made, and on August 26, 2009, Garrido confessed to his crimes and surrendered. This led to Jaycee and her daughters finally reuniting with their family in South Lake Tahoe, California, which they had been waiting for a long time.
