Johnny Brown, the actor, comedian, and singer who played Superintendent Nathan Bookman on the famous 1970s comedy “Good Times,” died on Wednesday. Brown was 84 years old when he died. In an Instagram post, Brown’s death was verified by his daughter, Broadway actress Sharon Catherine Brown.

The actress wrote, “It’s really too bad. It will never be otherwise. It’s a rude awakening. He was stolen right out of our arms. The exact cause of death is not revealed. However, it is assumed to be because of a heart problem. The actor collapsed on March 2, 2022, shortly after leaving a doctor’s appointment for his pacemaker.

In addition to a successful movie career, Brown had a long singing and theater career. He also featured frequently on “Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In.”

The Flip Wilson Show,” “The Jeffersons,” and “Martin” are among his other credits. In the 1960s, he shared the stage alongside Sammy Davis Jr. and Cicely Tyson on Broadway.

Brown was born in St. Petersburg, Florida, on June 11, 1937, and reared in Harlem. He is survived by June, his 61-year-old wife, and his son, John Jr., in addition to his daughter.
