HoYeon Jung, Squid Game Star Joins Apple TV+Series ‘Disclaimer’
Hoyeon Jung, the superstar star of “Squid Game,” has signed on to appear in an upcoming show on Apple TV+. The 27-year-old South Korean actress has officially joined the cast of “Disclaimer,” a highly anticipated thriller series.
According to Deadline, Alfonso Cuarón will write and direct the project based on Renee Knight‘s novel. Hoyeon will play Kim, an ambitious and hardworking character. She appears in the series alongside industry heavyweights such as Cate Blanchett, Kevin Kline, and Sasha Baron Cohen. Kodi Smit-McPhee, an Australian actor, also appears in the show.
Blanchett portrays Catherine Ravenscroft, a successful and well-known television documentary journalist. According to the official show description, Blanchett and Hoyeon will have many scenes together because Kim will be working for Catherine, hoping this will lead to her big break.
Things will heat up when Catherine comes across a novel written by a widower (played by Kline). The journalist has been eager to expose the hidden transgressions of long-respected institutions, but things will take a turn for the worse when her darkest secret is revealed.
Catherine will realize that the character in the story is none other than herself as she reads the intriguing novel. According to Variety, the book also reveals details about her secret past, which she thought was long gone.
“Disclaimer,” which CAA and Saram Entertainment repped, will be Hoyeon’s next major project after making her acting debut in the megahit Netflix series “Squid Game.” Hoyeon won the SAG Award for best female actor in a drama series last month to portray North Korean defector Kang Sae-byeok in the nine-episode series.
HoYeon Jung was a runner-up on “Korea’s Next Top Model” before venturing into acting, which paved the way for her runway modeling career. According to sources, she was recently named Louis Vuitton’s new global Maison Ambassador.
