Flavor Flav’s Career as A Rapper
When Flavor Flav was younger and a hip-hop fan, his dream was to form his group. That dream became a reality in 1985 when he co-founded “Public Enemy” with Chuck D. The band released the single “Public Enemy #1” a year later.
The single was a huge success, and it introduced the band to many top music producers, including Rick Rubin and Def Jam Records. However, Rubin only wanted to sign Chuck as a solo artist because he didn’t realize the significance of Flav, but thanks to Chuck’s persistence, the duo was both signed.
The group released their first album on Def Jam Records in 1987. The album was named Yo, Bum Rush the Show, and it showed the group’s chemistry. Chuck was a serious rapper, while Fav was amusing to the rest of the gang. The group’s major hit album was released in 1988.
Along with the band’s success, Flavor Flav achieved solo success in 1990 with the release of his single “911 is a Joke.” His other solo hit came in 1999 when he collaborated with DJ Temekk, and Grandmaster Flash on “1 2 3 Rhymes Galore.”
However, Flav did not release a solo song until 2006, named Flavor Flav. There was no new information about Fav and Public Enemy’s music, but in March 2020, the band formally announced that they’ve split up.
