Ed Sheeran’s New Song Featuring Taylor Swift Is Coming This Friday
In a red carpet interview ahead of the Brit Awards, Ed Sheeran revealed that he is working on a new song with Taylor Swift. After considerable speculation, Ed Sheeran appears to have finally confirmed a remix of his song “The Joker and the Queen” starring his old chum Taylor Swift.
The singer said a new song “comes out Friday and it’s with Taylor Swift” during a red carpet chat with LADbible ahead of the Brit Awards on Tuesday (Feb. 8).
Sheeran said, “We’re literally announcing that in, like, an hour,” though no official announcement had been made at the time of publication. While Sheeran hasn’t said what the song would be, many think it’ll be a remix of “The Joker and the Queen,” which first appeared on Sheeran’s fourth studio album, =, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart on Nov. 13.
According to Twitter fan theories, the Taylor Swift patch on the back of Sheeran’s jacket in his “Overpass Graffiti” video and the equal sign Swift carved into the cake in her “I Bet You Think About Me” video where a sequence of indications that the two were working on something related to the song.
The newest hint came on Saturday (Feb. 5), when eagle-eyed fans saw the words “feat. Taylor Swift” in the song credits for Sheeran’s “The Joker and the Queen” official lyric video on YouTube.
The remix of “The Joker and the Queen” would not be the first time the old friends collaborated. They previously worked together on three Swift songs: “Everything Has Changed” from Red, “End Game” from Reputation, and “Run,” a vault track from Red (Taylor’s Version).
