During her jaw-dropping first solo performance, Chloe Bailey is dismissing rumors that she’s dating Future. For years, the actress and singer have been one half of the sister-singing combo Chloe x Halle. She recently released her debut solo track “Have Mercy,” the lead single off her upcoming debut solo album.

Chloe Bailey performed the song for the first time at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, rocking the crowd and leaving fans dumbfounded. Following her great solo debut, the singer took to Instagram Live to chat with fans, and she had a list of questions for them.

While gushing about her beautiful blonde hair, Chloe interrupted herself to answer a comment on a new rumor stating she and Future are dating and it’s “serious.” The “Have Mercy” singer was very kind in her denial, telling fans that she liked Future’s music but is unaware of where the rumor originated. “He’s a fantastic person, I adore his music, and I’ve never spoken to him in my life,” Bailey explained. So they’re not only not dating, but they’ve never met.

During the live session, Chloe also addressed another strange charge leveled against her, this time that she had joined the Illuminati. While putting an end to such a terrible notion, the singer was as elegant as one could be. “One minute you’re complaining that I talk too much about God, and the next you’re accusing me of selling my soul. Which is it, my darlings?” She inquired sarcastically. “I adore God and music, and I just have a lot of enthusiasm. That’s all.”

Before flatly denying it, the singer chuckled off the idea, obviously thrilled that fans think her solo single is selling well enough to inspire such an outrageous theory. “I didn’t sell my soul, no,” she clarified, giggling.

Following the VMAs on Sunday, Bailey was one of the hot things on everyone’s lips, and with such a show-stopping first performance to kick off her solo career, she may be the one to talk about for a long time. The actress is near to finishing her debut album, which she told Billboard late last month she is cutting from roughly 50 tracks to around 30. Chloe season is just around the corner.
