ASAP Rocky is Released on Bond After LAX Arrest
American rapper A$AP Rocky was released on a $550,000 bond following his detention at Los Angeles International Airport on Wednesday morning (April 20) in connection with an alleged shooting in November 2021.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, in a statement to the Associated Press, the rapper, whose actual name is Rakim Mayers, was detained on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon upon landing at Los Angeles International Airport.
Rocky was apprehended while returning to Los Angeles on a private plane from a trip to Barbados with his pregnant girlfriend, Rihanna. According to NBC News, which broke the news of the rapper’s detention first, he was released less than three hours after posting bond. According to court records, he has a court date set for August 17.
According to the LAPD, the victim of the non-fatal shooting stated the rapper approached him in Hollywood on November 6 with a revolver in his hand and fired multiple shots, one of which grazed his left hand.
The suspect and two other individuals were spotted fleeing the scene on foot after the incident. Even though the victim suffered just minor injuries due to the event, LAPD stated that he sought medical attention.
Since his release on Wednesday, the rapper was seen going on a dinner date on Saturday with his pregnant girlfriend Rihanna. It is said that the billionaire singer canceled her baby shower event because of this arrest. Rihanna and the rapper confirmed their relationship in May 2021.
