As a writer, lecturer, financial analyst, and business leader, Ms. Newmark has had a successful 30-year career in finance and telecommunications. During her time at CJ Lawrence, she was a top-ranked telecom analyst and served as a Managing Director.
In 1993, she founded a hedge fund specializing in telecommunications and technology firms, and in 1995, she joined Winstar Communications, Inc.’s founding management team as Executive Vice President of Strategic Planning. She departed Winstar in 1997 and served on the boards of many public telecommunications and technology firms for the following ten years.
Ms. Newmark began her career in the commercial sector as a college senior, writing a magazine on telecom equipment sales prospects in Brazil. This sparked a renewed interest in the telecommunications business. She went on to work as a consultant for the sector, eventually landing a job at the Gartner Group, where she published many telecoms books and oversaw the telecommunications services business.
In 1981, she relocated to Wall Street. She spent several years writing and lecturing on telecommunications and information services and offering mutual fund and hedge fund clients her stock picks and pans. She most recently worked as a publisher, author, and editor for one of the most popular book sequels of all time, Chicken Soup for the Soul.
