Britney Spears has reportedly announced that she is expecting her third child months after being released from a conservatorship that she claimed barred her from marrying and having more children. On Monday, she announced the news via Instagram, saying she had taken a pregnancy test after her partner, Sam Asghari, teased her about being “food pregnant.”

The singer previously stated that she and the fitness model, 28, “wish to start a family.” The 40-year-old actress regained her independence in November after a judge ordered her to be released from a conservatorship that had dominated her life for nearly 14 years.

The lady claimed that she was forced to stay on birth control against her will during court hearings leading up to the decision. Last year, she told the court, “I want to be able to get married and have a baby.” “I’ve been told that while I’m in conservatorship, I won’t be able to marry or have a child.“

Furthermore, Britney also told the court that she was forced to take medications and perform against her will under her father’s conservatorship. The judge’s decision to end the conservatorship was a massive win for the singer, who had been fighting it for years. It meant she wouldn’t have to pay attorneys and a team of professionals to manage her estate and affairs longer.

Spears’ case sparked outrage worldwide and raised questions about the role of conservatorships in the United States. She was invited to Congress this year to discuss her conservatorship case. Britney and Asghari got engaged in September of last year, just days after her father asked for the conservatorship to be lifted.

The songwriter told the court that she wanted to marry Asghari, whom she met in 2016, but couldn’t even drive with him because of the conservatorship. In September, Spears joked that the proposal was “way overdue.” In July 2021, Britney’s mother voiced her support for her daughter amid the conservatorship battle.
