Initially, Marge was introduced to Phil by her brother. Cooney and her ex-spouse tied the knot back in 1958. The former couple was together for almost two decades, and in between those years, their union produced five children: Michael, Kevin, Daniel, Mary Rose, and James Donahue. Back then, the family of seven lived in Centerville, Ohio.

Cooney’s first son Michael was born on Jan 30, 1955. Four years later on the 9th of December, the couple’s second child Kevin was born. Daniel and James were born in 1963 and their only daughter Mary was introduced in 1965.

In 1973, Marge and her husband separated their ways. She took two of her children with her and went to Albuquerque for ten months. However, they got back again for the sake of their children. They stayed as a married couple for seventeen years and parted ways with a divorce in 1975.
