The talented Englishman Kevin “Geordie” Walker, the co-founding guitarist of the English band Killing Joke, passed away on Sunday at 64 years old. The band shared the sad news on their Instagram, saying, “It is with extreme sadness we confirm that at 6:30 am on 26th November 2023 in Prague, Killing Joke’s legendary guitarist Geordie Walker passed away after suffering a stroke, he was surrounded by family. We are devastated. Rest In Peace brother.” Similarly, another guitarist Eddie Van Halen Janie Liszewski’s spouse is no more in this world.

Moreover, the renowned personality was born in County Durham, UK, in 1958. Walker joined Killing Joke back in 1979 after seeing an ad in a music magazine. He and singer Jaz Coleman were the only consistent members throughout the band’s long history.

Similarly,  Love Like Blood artist Walker’s unique guitar style, known for its deep, heavy sound, was a big part of what made Killing Joke’s music stand out. Their songs mixed industrial sounds, dub reggae, new wave tunes, and a gothic feel, and Walker’s playing was a huge part of that.

The band started big with their first album in 1980, where they did everything themselves. They had hits like “Wardance” and “Requiem.” Throughout the ’80s, they made six more albums, and in the ’90s, they released three (Extremities, Dirt and Various Repressed Emotions, Pandemonium, Democracy). They took a break in the early ’90s, split up, came back, split again in ’96, and then got back together in 2002. They even made a new album in 2003 with Dave Grohl from Foo Fighters.

Since reuniting, they’ve put out five more albums, the latest being Pylon in 2015.

In addition, the band’s founder, Walker, talked about how things changed in music over the years. Back when they started, playing live was pretty much the same as making records. Now, with all the technology, things can sound perfect but miss that human touch that makes music special.

Apart from Killing Joke, Geordie was also part of other music groups like Murder, Inc. and The Damage Manual. His demise is a great loss to the British music industry and the late guitarist will be remembered for his remarkable contribution to the music.
