Following the Sussex family’s journey to the UK for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee festivities, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shared fresh images of their 1-year-old daughter, Lilibet. In a photo shot at her 1st birthday celebration in the UK over the weekend, Lilibet looks exactly like the Duke of Sussex, complete with his characteristic red hair.

The child was dressed in a pale blue outfit with a white hair bow for the event, which took place on Saturday at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, England. Misan Harriman, a photographer, also shared a photo of Markle and Lilibet with his wife Camilla Holmstroem and their children.

The Sussex spokeswoman described the gathering as a “casual, small home picnic” for “close friends and family.” Claire Ptak, who designed Harry and Markle’s wedding cake in 2018, made a unique cake for Lilibet’s reception, and family friend Misan Harriman grabbed the cute snapshot of the tot on the spur of the moment. In March 2021, Harriman shot the “Suits” alum’s maternity shoot.

Last week, Harry and Markle’s daughter, Lilibet, saw Queen Elizabeth II for the first time when they took her and her 3-year-old son Archie to London to commemorate the 96-year-old monarch’s remarkable 70 years of service.

When the Sussexes arrived in the UK, the Queen had a brief encounter with her great-granddaughter. The Queen and Lilibet then reunited at Windsor Castle ahead of Lilibet’s 1st birthday celebrations on Saturday. In June 2021, Harry, 37, and Markle, 40, disclosed that their daughter’s name was inspired by the Queen’s childhood nickname, which her close family members used, including her late husband, Prince Philip.

“Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet,” according to a statement issued shortly after Lilibet’s birth. According to sources close to the couple, Harry told his grandmother they would name their daughter Lilibet; however, other palace insiders claim they never obtained the Queen’s consent.

While the Queen met Lilibet, Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, did not attend Lilibet’s birthday celebration. Despite Harry and Markle’s invitation to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their children to Lilibet’s birthday party as an olive branch, William, 39, and Middleton, 40, opted not to attend due to the brothers’ strained rivalry, according to Page Six.

Meanwhile, Archie’s first journey back to his father’s motherland since the family went to California when Harry and Markle retired from their official responsibilities in 2020 marked the Sussexes’ first trip back to Britain. Last Wednesday, Harry, Markle, and their children arrived in London on a commercial flight and attended several Platinum Jubilee events. However, they did not join the other royals on the balcony during Thursday’s Trooping the Colour march.

The two were also booed when they exited the National Service of Thanksgiving at St. Paul‘s Cathedral in London on Friday. Harry and Markle sat far apart from the Cambridges during the church session. They flew back to the United States on a private plane early Sunday ahead of the Queen’s four-day celebrations, culminating with the Platinum Jubilee Pageant.
