Bochco got his first and only acting appearance as Frank Furillo Jr. in his father’s sitcom Hill Street Blues in 1982. He portrayed the son of Barbara Bosson‘s character, Fay Furillo.

Bochco started his career in television as an assistant producer on his father’s show Philly (2001–2002), starring Kim Delaney. In 2002, he made his directing debut on the front with the episode Tall Tales.

Bochco went on to direct episodes of New York Police Department Blue, Over There, Commander in Chief, and Raising the Bar, all of which were produced by his father.
