Denise Richards gives an update on her relationship with her daughter Sami. The 50-year-old Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star appeared on SiriusXM’s Jeff Lewis Live on Friday, where she said that she and her 17-year-old daughter have a “strained” relationship because the kid continues to live with Charlie Sheen.

Richards, who has a 16-year-old daughter Lola with ex Sheen, adds, “Honestly, I have a tough relationship with her.” “It’s quite challenging. I know we’ll go back to where we were, but things are tense right now.” When asked if she was content with Sami’s present living situation, Richards responds, “Obviously, I’d like her to move in with me. She had been living with me for several years.”

“However, I believe that raising kids today, particularly in Los Angeles, is really challenging. We didn’t grow up with Postmates and Uber, where we could get everything we wanted “She goes on. “There are some ground rules that I enforce. And [at Sheen’s], there are other regulations there, which is fine.”

According to Richards, Sami is “not in school,” and she doesn’t “agree with certain things” that Sheen believes. “That’s fine, though. We may agree to disagree if we want to, “She informs Lewis. Richards describes herself as “not a severe mom,” but she does have “rules and boundaries.“

According to a source who spoke to PEOPLE in October, Sami and Lola have more freedom at Sheen’s residence, whereas Richards and her husband Aaron Phypers have more limits. (Before moving in with Sheen, Sami referred to Mom’s residence as a “hell house” where she felt “imprisoned.”)

“She would love for the kids to stay in her wonderful house when she has to film, but they go to ‘Wonderland,’ where they can get anything they want,” the insider claimed, adding that “everything is a big party” at Sheen’s home.

However, according to a different source, “Charlie is an excellent father, and his two girls adore him. They appreciate his company. Charlie is a demanding but fair father. At Charlie’s house, the girls have rules, which include homework and curfew. The females are pleasant to be around, polite, intelligent, and amusing.” Richards is also the mother of Eloise Joni, a 10-year-old daughter whom Phypers is “in the process” of adopting.
