Chris Rock Finally Speaks on Being Slapped by Will Smith at Oscars!
Chris Rock, whose birth name is Christopher Julius Rock III, is widely regarded as one of the most talented and successful American stand-up comedians, actors, and filmmakers at 57 years old. But, here the recent news is, Chris Rock is now speaking up about the incident at the Oscars 2022 in which 53-year-old actor Will Smith slapped him in front of a star-studded audience and show of the world.
The comedian Rock recently responded with humor to the now-famous slap and chose not to seek charges against Smith, making a joke about the event while performing a stand-up gig over the weekend. He also refused to press charges against Smith.
Recently, this past Saturday, Rock and Kevin Hart co-headlined the Only Headliners Allowed comedy tour at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, with special guest Dave Chappelle. According to reports, Rock made a joke about Smith during a segment about ‘cancel culture,’ joking that anyone who believes words hurt has never been hit in the face.
The show is the first time Rock has spoken publicly about the slap, although he had previously intimated that he would be making jokes about it once he properly comprehended what had transpired. And just days after he performed at the 2022 Oscars, Rock performed a sold-out stand-up gig to thunderous applause.
While winking at the audience, he said: “If you came to hear me vent about the weekend events, I’m sorry to disappoint you; I already had an entire show planned out before this one came up. What happened was so shocking that I’m still trying to make sense of it. I intend to address the matter at some point. The tone will be both serious and humorous.”
Similarly to some reports, Chris Turned Down the Opportunity to Host the Oscars in 2023. And Chris Rock’s Mom has also Spoken about Oscar Incident. Rock did not wish to pursue legal action; however, the Academy has opened an investigation into the matter to “consider additional action and consequences,”
After Men In Black actor Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock during the Oscars, the Academy banned Will Smith from attending the Oscars gala and other Academy functions for the next ten years. Also, Smith has officially apologized for his actions at the Oscars.
